Add a service to your menu

Put a service on the menu with its price and how long it takes, so clients can book it and the diary knows how much time to hold.

A service is one thing on your menu: a skin fade, a full head of box braids, a bridal trial. It needs a name, a price and a length, and that is enough to be booked. Everything else on the form is optional and can be set later.

Menu → Add a service → Save
  1. Open the menu

Tap Menu, then Add a service.

  2. Say what it is

Give it the name a client would recognise on your price list. Pick a category or type a new one, such as Braids or Colour; a new name creates the category as you save. A description is optional and shows under the name when somebody is choosing.

  3. Set the price

Fixed is a single price. From shows a starting price, for work that depends on length or thickness. By the hour charges by time and needs an hourly rate. Each multiplies by the number of people, for a bridal party. Leave the price blank for a free consultation.

A deposit goes in the same box group — see Take a deposit on a service.

  4. Say how long it takes

Fixed is one length. A new service starts at one hour; you set the real length under How the time is used after saving. A range gives a shortest and a longest, for work you quote on the day. Open-ended is for by-the-hour work with no set finish.

The diary holds exactly this much time, so be honest. Six hours of braids entered as two books two clients into the same afternoon.

  5. Say where it happens

Here is your shop or chair. At theirs is a home visit, and the client is asked for their address when they book. Either offers both.

  6. Save, then say who does it

Saving opens the service's own page. Under Performed by, tap Add someone and tick who does it. A service nobody performs is on the menu but cannot be booked, and the menu says so on the row. To keep it off the booking page while you finish setting it up, switch off Clients can book this online in Edit service.

After saving

The service's own page has four more things you can change, each with its own screen:

  • How the time is used — the length, as one block or several, with the ones where you are free marked. A root tint is twenty minutes on, thirty-five developing, thirty-five to finish; only the seventy busy minutes block your diary, so someone else can be booked into the middle. Set this first for anything that is not an hour.
  • Performed by — who on the team does it, and their own price for it if that differs from the shop's.
  • Extras — the beard trim on a cut, the treatment on a colour. See Offer extras on a service.
  • Rules — a minimum age, a signed consent form, or another service that must come first, such as a patch test 48 hours before a tint.
